Ashley Fure, Terre Thaemlitz and Sonar Quartett
Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 8PM
Haus der Berliner Festspiele
Thank you to everyone who entered to win tickets in our giveaway!
Ashley Fure’s (*1982) work explores the kinetic source of sound with all the technological and conceptual tools available to an extraordinary composer of her generation. Bringing focus to the vital behaviours of raw acoustic matter, her recent string quartet “Anima” is augmented by a set of mobile transducers. Like stethoscopes listening in on the secrets of the body, players move these transducers across the surface of their instruments, breathing animate sound as they move into these inanimate objects. This fascinating approach to the time-honoured genre of the string quartet is the second occasion within MaerzMusik 2018 to get to know the absorbing work of the American composer and intermediary artist.
Part two of this evening is dedicated to Terre Thaemlitz’s (*1968) multimedia project “Lovebomb” – a poetic deconstruction of the “love song” and analysis of love as a cultural mechanism which enables otherwise unacceptable acts of violence, as demonstrated by domestic violence, a terrorist’s love for her cause and the West’s vengeful love of freedom.

How and when to enter:
We will be giving away two (2) pairs of tickets in two timeframes: Tuesday, March 20th between 7 and 8pm, and Wednesday, March 21st, between 6 and 9am. Listen for an on-air announcement in each of those timeframes with instructions to check this page, where an email address will simultaneously appear. To enter, send an email to the provided email address containing your full name and phone number with the subject line: MaerzMusik Ticket Giveaway 2018. Incomplete entries will be disqualified. All entries become the property of KCRW Berlin and will not be acknowledged or returned. Your personal information will be used by KCRW Berlin and Berliner Festspiele exclusively and solely for the purposes of determining the two Giveaway winners, and for contacting these winners with instructions for collecting their prize.
Selecting a winner:
The date and time of the email defines the order in which a winner will be decided. The first email received in each of the two giveaway timeframes will be declared the winner, and will be notified in writing via the email address provided at entry. Entry for each timeframe is separate: entries during the first timeframe will not be considered for the giveaway during the second. Only one (1) pair of tickets can be won per person/per household per day. If the giveaway winner cannot be reached with the contact details provided, does not respond within 24 hours, does not meet eligibility requirements, or is otherwise unable or unwilling to receive the prize, the second email received will be declared the winner, and so on, until the prize is confirmed by the winner. All decisions made by station management with regard to the prize(s), the selection of prizewinners, and the interpretation of these rules are final. Each entrant, by virtue of entering the contest, agrees to accept the decision of the station as final.
The two (2) Giveaway winners will each receive two (2) tickets for the performance: “Lovebomb” with Ashley Fure, Terre Thaemlitz and Sonar Quartett on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 8PM at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. Once the Giveaway has ended and winners have been confirmed, all further correspondence about collecting the prize and attending the event must be directed to the Berliner Festspiele (Event Organizer & Prize Supplier).
