The Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig ruled that two Berlin teachers convicted of possession of child pornography must be removed from civil service.

In lower courts the teachers had won the right to continue their employment but Berlin repeatedly appealed the verdicts.

The Federal Administrative Court’s ruling states that the crime is incompatible with the teaching profession.

Members of Germany’s parliament voted to increase the minimum wage for trainees, often called “Azubis” in German.

As of 2020, individuals in their first year of vocational training will receive at least 515 euros a month. All learning materials must also be paid in full by the employer.

The federal government wants to use the law to make vocational training more attractive and to reduce the number of dropouts in various fields.
