In politics: Violent clashes in Chemnitz and Germany’s Foreign Minister has a new vision for Europe

After a fatal stabbing of a German man, a mob broke out in the Saxon city of Chemnitz, during which neo-Nazis, some of whom were giving the illegal Hitler salute, chased down foreigners. Also, Heiko Maas, Germany’s foreign minister, has a new vision for Europe: To be more independent from the United States.

Andreas Kluth, editor-in-chief of Handelsblatt Global, joined us this week to discuss Maas’ statement and this episode in former East Germany. Kluth says: “It would be disingenuous to pretend that Saxony does not have a problem.”
