The decorative becomes political at Berlin Fashion Week

Berlin Fashion Week has begun, with some observing an apparent melding of fashion with political messaging at this year’s shows. We caught up with some exhibitors, among them the esteemed German artist Anselm Reyle, who has installed a large sculpture at the event, and the gallerist Johann König.

König is presenting a line of “König Souvenirs” for sale, including a “quasi-presidential hat” with the word “Guilt” emblazoned on it, and an “EUnify” hoodie featuring an EU flag with a missing star. König believes that the melding of art and fashion is important: “Art can benefit all our lives and also can change [your] perspective on the world.”
