The opening round of World Cup matches in Russia is over. We caught up with sports writer and author Jacob Sweetman about the excitement of Portugal vs. Spain, the surprise of an England win, and the shock 1-0 German loss to Mexico.
“I’m not that shocked at all actually,” says Sweetman. “I was shocked…by how good Mexico was. Germany was lumbering, they were slow…and they were utterly outplayed.” He adds, however, that “the most dangerous thing you can do with the German national team is to presume that they will not bounce back.”
