Bees are a huge part of our ecosystem, with biodiversity and pollination hanging on the buzzing creatures’ hungry appetites. However, with devastation to bee populations due to factors like pesticides, some bee activists are calling for more beehives in urban spaces. We visit beekeeper and StadtBienen founder Johannes Weber to learn why he thinks cities like Berlin are the perfect home for honey.
Weber tells us how beekeeping runs in his family and explains why his nonprofit’s mission to bring bees to the city is beneficial for all. As to why his urban honey tastes so scrumptious: Weber says it’s because “that’s the freshest honey you can get.”
