Upcoming Aspen Institute conference to examine role of artificial intelligence in society

Artificial intelligence (AI) touches a vast number of fields including national security, the automobile industry, and health care. But as developments in AI offer potential solutions to the problems we face, what are the new questions that arise?

The Aspen Institute Germany will host a conference Wednesday, March 14 through Thursday, March 15, bringing together innovators, politicians and thought leaders to take on this topic. Program director Tyson Barker says we need to be “clear-eyed” and draw from a wide range of opinions when trying to answer the questions raised by AI.

“Are we playing God here, are we building Frankensteins?” says Barker. “There are a lot of moral questions bound up in imbuing robots, imbuing machines, systems, with the ability to autonomously think.”
