A former model and Miss Italy recalls working with Gianni Versace, the subject of current retrospective at Kronprinzenpalais

Renowned Italian designer Gianni Versace is being remembered in a retrospective at the Kronprinzenpalais with a large display of his works that were brought to Berlin by private collectors. One former model and current Berliner, Alda Balestra Stauffenberg, remembers modeling in Versace’s first show in Florence in 1975. “What do I do?” she recalls asking the legendary designer before the show began. His reply? “Whatever you want to do.”

Monika Müller-Kroll sits down with Stauffenberg to talk about her start in fashion, her adventures as Miss Italy in 1970 and Versace’s influential style.

The Gianni Versace Retrospective runs until April 14th.
