Quarterly dinner series, NEU, to offer Berlin chefs a platform for experimentation


Ten years ago, Per Meurling would never have believed he’d go on to write a widely read blog on Berlin’s food scene, mostly because there wasn’t yet a Berlin food scene to write about. “I’ve grown with the scene,” he says, and has done so in part by documenting his food adventures on the popular Berlin Food Stories.

Now Meurling is branching out. His new quarterly dinner series, NEU, will invite international and Berlin-based chefs to collaborate on a meal, emphasizing the experimental and innovative. “They can’t do anything they’re used to,” he explains. The dinner series will be about “pulling them out of their comfort zone,” something he says German chefs aren’t encouraged to do enough.
