SPEKTRUM brings scientists and artists together through communities and exhibitions

Located at the intersection of Kreuzberg and Neukölln, SPEKTRUM is a space that joins artists with scientists to form communities and present exhibitions.

Co-founders Lieke Ploeger and Alfredo Ciannameo officially opened its doors in June 2015 and since then, people from vastly different fields have been able to collaborate with one another on various projects.

One group, for example, meets monthly at SPEKTRUM to discuss new research and plan projects focused on a theme that Ploeger says is routinely “under-looked or under-appreciated:” the sense of smell.

Sylvia Cunningham speaks with Ploeger about the mission of SPEKTRUM and the void the project filled in Berlin.
