Humboldt University professor on refugees in Germany’s labor force and the relationship between employment and integration

Over one million refugees arrived in Germany between 2015 and the end of September 2016, according to a report co-authored by Dr. Herbert Brücker, Visiting Professor of Economic Migration and Integration Research at Humboldt University.

Brücker, who has spent years studying migrants, says there are many misconceptions on the topic of refugees in the labor force. Sylvia Cunningham talks with Brücker about the barriers to refugees finding jobs and why employment is so critical to facilitating integration.
