Manolis Ulbricht is research and teaching assistant to the Chair of Berlin Byzantine Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. He focuses on the religious interactions between Early Islam and Christianity. His research brought him to Damascus in 2010 where he spent time traveling around the region and visiting both mosques and monasteries.
Monika Müller-Kroll speaks with Ulbricht about his experiences abroad, putting the current rhetoric on Islam in a historical context, and how he felt meeting Pope Benedict.
