When Lorena Carràs and Jean-Marie Dhur first thought about opening a bookstore, people warned them against it. They were told the age of “printed matter” had come to an end, but the two refused to listen.
“For us, it was like a statement,” said Carràs.
Marlene Melchior visited Zabriskie – Buchladen für Kultur und Natur in Kreuzberg shortly after the shop’s fourth anniversary to ask about the challenges of owning a bookstore in the age of Amazon, the original concept behind the store, and what’s coming out of the publishing scene in Berlin.
